Calls

Drifting bodies / fluent spaces is calling upon submissions for three forms of participation:
i) Papers, ii) Artistic Projects / Artworks iii) Walkshops.

We invite to submit papers, artistic projects or artworks and walkshops that relate to:

a) walks, performance events or actions that focus on the relationship of the body and the physical space, and on the immaterial realms of conscious and sensory experience, 
b) digital/new technology mappings of the urban fluidity and drift as methodology, 
c) documentation explorations of the experiential understanding of the urban fluid that challenge current representational techniques,
d) walking stories/storytelling: walking narratives and their intermedia translations.

The articles, projects and workshops were evaluated by the Scientific Committee of the event:

Unfortunately, due to the global spread of COVID-19 (Corona Virus), DRIFTING BODIES / FLUENT SPACES as an international meeting / conference had to be reorganized into a hybrid format.
The conference will consist of three online presentations, followed by questions and answers, one each day between 22 and 24 July at 18h30 BST.
There will also be 3 online round tables with 7 participants, at 17h BST from 22 to 24 July, allowing a group of invited speackers to discuss topics related to their papers, among themselves and with the online audience topics.
In the walkshops / performances category, 12 candidates are selected.
In the category of art works, 25 artists are selected.
The organization reserves the right to reproduce and distribute, through online or paper printed publications, all or part of the project papers or other submitted materials, including images, video and sound materials, always quoting the respective authors, and will archive all documentation in text, video, audio and photographs,generated as part of this open call.

CALL FOR PAPERS AND/OR POSTERS

We are grateful for the high number of proposals received that exceeded our expectations, but the current pandemic situation required a reorganization and we had to transition the conference / round table to a virtual format.

It was difficult to make a final selection and many excellent works had to be left out.

The articles and posters selected by the Scientific Committee of the Meeting are disseminated and published on the website https://walk.lab2pt.net/ and in an E-book to be composed and published after the conclusion of the event. Given the transition to a hybrid format, audio articles were accepted.

 

All authors / artists accepted for the article must send the following information:

Author / artist name and affiliation;

Complete contact details;

Brief biography (up to 150 words);

Title of the paper, work or poster;

Full article up to 6000 words (APA) .DOC or .DOCX. (pdf link attached)

 

Authors with accepted audio articles should send the following information:

Author / artist name and affiliation;

Full contact details and nationality;

Brief biography (up to 150 words);

Title of the paper, work or poster;

Audio paper summary (up to 300 words);

.MP3 or .WAV file up to 40 min.

Papers or audiopapers are accepted in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

CALL FOR ARTISTIC PROJECTS/ARTWORKS

We are thrilled about the large number of proposals received that exceeded our expectations, but the current pandemic situation required a reorganization of th conference/meeting and we had to cancel the initially planned exhibition. To fully celebrate the work received and the art of walking, we propose to collect all accepted proposals in a digital publication, to be composed and published after the event, with all the proposals accepted by the Scientific Committee.

It was difficult to make a final selection and excellent work had to be excluded.

The artistic projects or works of art proposed and accepted by the Scientific Committee of the Meeting will be disseminated and published on the website https://walk.lab2pt.net/ and in an Ebook to be edited after the conclusion of the event:

Brief biography (up to 150 words);

Title of the work / project and technical information (including if applicable weblink, QR-code, access instructions to app, instructions for live or streamed works);

Summary of the project or work (maximum 600 words) accompanied by 1 to 10 images (300 dpis) or links.

CALL FOR WALKSHOPS AND WALKING PERFORMANCES

We received a large number of high quality proposals that exceeded our expectations, but due to the current pandemic situation the event and the reorganization of the conference/encounters,, and we can only schedule a very limited number of walkshops and walks, having to apply a very strict selection in the number of proposals. It was difficult to make a final selection and many excellent proposals had to be excluded.

The workshops / performance proposed and accepted by the Scientific Committee of the Encounters will take place between 22 and 24 July, and their processes / documentation in progress will be included on the site and in a publication to be published after the event.

 

All accepted authors / artists must send the following information:

Author / artist name and affiliation;

Full contact details and nationality;

Brief biography (up to 150 words);

Title of the work / project;

Summary of the process (maximum 500 words) accompanied by 1 to 5 images (300 dpi) or links.
